SUMMARY:Warm Glass - Fusing and Slumping Course - 16th May 2026
DESCRIPTION:About the course\nIn this one day introductory course you will gain an insight into the wonderful world of contemporary kiln-fired glass. Once you understand how glass behaves when heated you begin to understand the possibilities of glass art. In this course students learn the techniques of fusing\, slumping and texturing glass in a kiln through the making of practical projects and demonstrations. No previous glass experience is necessary. \nWhat you will learn\n\nA solid introduction to the skills required to cut\, handle\, and assemble glass sheets.\nThe principles of glass fusing\, slumping and texturing will be discussed and demonstrated through project-based learning.\nThe design and production of three kiln formed glass pieces as part of the learning process\, which are kept by the students. Examples include a textured clear glass plate\, a coloured plate of your own design\, and photographic image on glass.\nGlass compatibility\, annealing and firing programs.\nAn introduction to kiln types\, kiln preparation and use\, and firing schedules.\nAn understanding of types of molds available\, and the preparation required for slumping and texturizing glass.\nSafety requirements and procedures for the workshop space.\n\nWhat do I need to bring?\n\nLunch for the day (fridge is available). Tea and coffee provided.\nPlease wear closed in shoes (safety requirement for entry into the workshop)\nWear comfortable suitable clothes for working and apron if desired.\nNotebook for taking notes if desired – printed notes are also given during course\nA photographic image to fuse onto glass. More information on this project will be sent prior to the course.\n\nPayment Details\nYou can secure a position in a course by purchasing a $190 deposit using the booking system below. The balance is due strictly three weeks prior to commencement of course. Alternatively\, you may pay the full amount straight away. \nCancellation Policy\nCancellation by the student:\nWe understand that sometimes circumstances change and you may not be able to attend a course that you have paid for. In these circumstances\, your options are- \n\nWhen cancelling more than four weeks prior to the course a refund will be provided less a $50 administration fee.\nWhen cancelling within 4 weeks of the course\, a loss of deposit will occur. \nWhen cancelling within 2 weeks of the course\, we cannot provide a refund or transfer. However you are extremely welcome to send someone else in your place.\nWe unfortunately can make no exceptions to this policy. This is due to materials prepared\, administration and turning away others once the course is full\, and as a small family business we cannot absorb these costs.\n\nCancellation by the workshop:\n\nAll workshops have a minimum enrolment required for the workshop to run and in the unlikely and regrettable situation a workshop needs to be rescheduled or cancelled\, the deposit will be fully refunded. DESCRIPTION:Learn the beautiful craft of traditional stained glass leadlight construction through this informative and hands-on two-day weekend workshop. \nAbout the course\nIn this course Clare will guide you through the traditional method and craft of leadlight panel construction. Topics covered include glass cutting\, leading\, soldering and puttying techniques as well as health and safety principles of working with glass. You will select your piece from a selection of A4 designs provided\, and by the end of the course you will take home a small completed stained glass panel. Clare focuses on teaching proficient skills and techniques\, which form a solid foundation for future projects. \nWhat do I need to bring?\n\nLunch for the day (fridge is available). Tea and coffee provided\nPlease wear closed in shoes (safety requirement for entry into the workshop)\nWear comfortable suitable clothes for working and apron if desired\nNotebook for taking notes if desired – printed notes are also given during course\nP2 mask for puttying – not required for the whole course\nFive pairs of disposable gloves for puttying and blacking\n\nPayment Details\nTo secure a position in a course a $290 deposit is required using the booking system below.
